When you have a little one, it’s important that you have baby teethers for all stages of teething.

Every parent dreads the onset of baby teeth. While some little ones handle it like champs, others are not so fortunate. And since the symptoms of a tooth coming in can last from a few days to several months, finding a teething toy your little one enjoys is mutually beneficial for both baby and parents alike.

Signs that your baby is teething include a visible tooth below the gum line, swollen gums, drooling, irritability, rubbing of the face or ears, turning away from food, difficulty sleeping and trying to bite and suck on everything and anything.

But how do you choose the right teething toy for your little one? Here are a few helpful guidelines. Look for something that is made from materials that are safe and non-toxic (rubber is the most common teething toy material); along the same lines you want something that is Phthalates and BPA free; it should be soft to the touch, so baby’s gums are comforted, and it should engage your baby with bright colors or textures.

Here’s a list of my favorite teething toys that will soothe those sore gums and are great for all stages of teething.

The Best Baby Teethers for All Stages of Teething

For those front teeth: MAM Bite & Brush Teether With Soft Bristles, ideal for babies three months and up. The soft bristles of this teething toy gently massage baby’s gums. It also functions to clean your baby’s front teeth while chewing, and anyone who has taken their little one to the dentist can tell you that prevention is key.

The ring shape allows for easy grasping, and the varied structures on the opposite side of the ring allow for some teething comfort. Also, as with any Mam’s product, this was designed in conjunction with pediatricians, so you know it’s safe and effective.

For those hard to reach molars: Zo-li Gummy Stick Baby Gum Massagers. I personally love this teether! I pop them in the fridge and give it to the little Man as a cool treat; they’re the modern-day version of the old gel rings. The multi-textured gum surface really massages those sore gums.

You can even attach a pacifier clip to one end to make sure they don’t end up on the floor. These are great for those hard to reach molars, with a choke shield, so your little one won’t gag. It also works those fine motor skills needed for brushing.

An eco-friendly teether: Nurtureland Teething Toys. If you’re looking to go the green route, these natural teethers are great. They’re eco-friendly and made of durable baby-safe-material.

Your little one can go to town on this teether, and you don’t have to worry about chemicals, etc. leaking out, unlike its frozen gel ring counterparts. The best part is you can toss them into your laundry machine! This also is the perfect addition to a baby shower gift or as an add on to a diaper cake.

The most versatile teether: Lamaze Play & Grow Take Along Toy, Firefly. Talk about stimulating your baby. This toy has everything from bright colors, to patterns, textures, and a squeaker. Technically, the ladybug and suspended rings are the teething parts, but our little Man has stuffed pretty much all of this firefly in this mouth, he especially loves the knotted legs.

This was a toy we purchased for the little man as an infant and it’s functionality as a plush toy, a sensory stimulating toy, a portable toy (attaches to car seats, strollers, anything that has a ring attachment), and a teether have made it a keeper.

The best overall teether: Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether. If this adorable giraffe doesn’t immediately win you over, the fact that it’s been rated one of the top teethers of all time will. It’s made from natural rubber and food paint which translates to no Phthalates or BPAs, and each Sophie is hand-painted so they’re all unique.

Sophie is lightweight, easy to grasp, and her squeaker will keep your baby engaged and stimulated. It’s great for all stages of teething from first teeth (Sophie’s multiple parts from ears to face to the neck) to molars.
